Twenty-Four Years Later, Joie's Legacy Lives On
On June 29, 2002, our community lost an extraordinary woman.
Josette "Joie" Beddell was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness touched countless lives. She faced breast cancer with remarkable strength, but her story became much bigger than the disease she battled.
In the years following her passing, family, friends, and neighbors came together with a simple but powerful goal: to make sure no Ohio woman would have to face the financial burden of breast cancer alone.
That promise became the Josette Beddell Memorial Foundation.
Twenty-four years later, what began as a tribute to one incredible woman has grown into a movement of compassion. Together, our donors, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters have provided more than $2 million in financial assistance to Ohio women and families facing breast cancer.
Every grant awarded helps cover essentials like housing, utilities, transportation, groceries, and other everyday expenses, allowing families to focus on what matters most: healing.
Today, we remember Joie with gratitude for the life she lived and the love she shared. We also celebrate the thousands of lives that have been touched because of the legacy she left behind.
If Joie's story has ever inspired you, we invite you to honor her memory by helping another family in need. Your gift, no matter the size, continues the mission that began in her name more than two decades ago.
